Reminder: Elementary Facility Planning Meetings

Posted Date: 01/27/26 (04:00 PM)

Reminder: The Elementary Facility Planning will be discussed on February 3rd at the Brecknock PTO meeting.

Please see the communication below for additional details.

Communication from January 19, 2026:

Dear Parents, Guardians and Community Members,

The purpose of this communication is to share information regarding the ongoing Board discussions regarding our elementary educational program and facility planning.  Specifically, I’m writing to share updates that have been made to our website, as well as the scheduling of townhall meetings in January and February.   These resources and meetings are intended to provide information and context to the process being undertaken by the board and invite questions and input from our community on this important decision.

On December 1, 2025, at the Committee of the Whole meeting, our Board of Directors saw a presentation focused on our elementary educational program.  The presentation was developed to help our board solidify next steps in our ongoing facility planning.  As a reminder, this discussion began with our board during the 2023-2024 school year.   Since then, our board has seen several facility studies, updated enrollment projections and analysis of our current and future financial position.  The original facility conversation began in response to the significant needs at Blue Ball Elementary School and resulted in the board passing a resolution on March 17, 2025, to move forward with the planning to replace the existing Blue Ball Elementary School.

As a support for our community, the public presentations of the last several years have been organized into a single landing spot on our website.  These public presentations, along with the Board Resolution authorizing the planning for replacement of Blue Ball Elementary, are all organized for easy reference and review.  Additionally, a Frequently Asked Questions section is also visible on that page, providing each visitor insight and thinking related to this project.

To further share concepts as well as gather thoughts and feedback, there have been townhall-style meetings scheduled in January and February, in addition to the regularly scheduled Committee of the Whole meetings of the Board on January 12th and February 9th.  These are open to any members of our community and the information gathered during these evenings will be discussed at a future board meeting prior to any decisions.

The schedule of meetings related to this project is the following:

January 12: Board Committee of the Whole, 7:00 pm, Community Hall

January 13: New Holland PTO Meeting, 7:00 pm, New Holland Elementary Cafeteria

January 14: Townhall Meeting, 6:30 pm, Blue Ball Elementary Cafeteria

January 20: Townhall Meeting, 6:30 pm, Blue Ball Elementary Cafeteria

February 3: Brecknock PTO Meeting, 6:30 pm, Brecknock Elementary Cafeteria (**This is a newly added date)

February 9: Board Committee of the Whole, 7:00 pm, Community Hall

Please understand that the analyses and presentations that are being developed and shared are intended to provide the board with as much information and context as possible to make the best decision for our district.

Due to the scope of this process, the projected opening of a new building, or any changes in elementary programming, would not occur until the 2029-2030 school year at the earliest.

If you have any thoughts on this process or the concepts included in this communication, please feel free to email your input to programfeedback@elanco.org.

Thank you,

Michael Snopkowski
